4x4 Off-Road

4x4 driving requires different skills from driving a conventional two wheel drive car. We make every effort to ensure that our 4x4 training is relevant to those that use 4x4 vehicles off road in the course of their normal work, so we go well beyond coaching in the basic mud-plugging techniques covered in the leisure industry.

We cover: steering and braking techniques; the role of diff locks and free-wheeling hubs; maintaining steady progress in deep mud; maintaining traction during steep ascents; safe progress during steep descents; avoidance of sideslip into deeper wheel tracks; stall recovery; considerations before and during deep water wading; transfer on and off differing surfaces; transfer on and off a sealed surface; rescue procedures in the event of getting stuck; considerations if a trailer is being towed off road.

4x4 training from Drive & Survive has real practical applications in the business environment and makes a vital contribution to workplace safety.
