On-Road Coaching

On-Road Coaching

On-road coaching, officially known as Drive & Survive Training, is a form of fleet driver training which was originally introduced by Drive & Survive some twenty years ago as a development of 'defensive' driver training, tailored to the needs of those who drive for work purposes.

The objective is to reduce the frequency of road incidents by creating safer, more aware, drivers. This can be achieved with virtually any vehicle and applies to any driving environment, because training concentrates on the driver's mental approach, rather than developing or modifying specific mechanical skills.

An important by-product of all our on-road coaching is a noticable saving in fuel consumption and other running costs. Specific observation and anticipation techniques in particular can help in maintaining steady, as opposed to erratic, progress, which pays dividends in the fuel consumption stakes. Drivers are also given tips on conserving tyres and brakes, and experience suggests that trained drivers usually drive with far greater mechanical sympathy thereafter, leading to vehicles being better looked after in the long run.
