On-Road Coaching - Van

Many of the principles that apply to Drive & Survive’s on-road coaching for cars apply equally to vans. We are trying to get inside van drivers' heads and change their perception of risk, and thus banish the default ‘violator’ behaviour that is sadly so prevalent on UK roads.

Although much of the course is similar to that of the car-orientated one, more time is spent on improving the thought processes surrounding judgement in low speed manoeuvring situations, where so many incidents occur. We also cover considerations that should be made in selecting parking or unloading locations, load security, personal security, journey planning and safe use of the mobile phone and data recording devices.

Once again, an important fringe benefit of van training is an improvement in fuel consumption, something which should be high on the priority list for van drivers.

Drive & Survive now has a group of trainers accredited for the delivery of the DfT-subsidised Safe & Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) scheme, so we can help you to reduce your van fleet running costs substantially.

As with normal Drive & Survive Training, your drivers will be coached by experienced, empathetic trainers who are well used to dealing with those who drive for a living, and the techniques learned will be easily applicable to everyday driving scenarios without affecting normal work patterns. In fact, the pilot programme demonstrated that, by adopting the SAFED training techniques, fuel consumption can not only improve by up to 14% but journey times can be cut by 1.5% too.

But it’s not just about fuel economy. By putting into practice the SAFED techniques, drivers can reduce their own ‘recognisable driver faults’ by up to 56% - these are the sort of lapses and misjudgments that can lead to a lot of unnecessary bumps, bangs and scrapes, the cost of which comes straight off the bottom line in one form or another.

Courses are a full day, delivered on a two drivers to one trainer basis and can be delivered anywhere in England.

To take advantage of this limited period van training offer please contact Emily Nafzger at Drive & Survive on 0870 1218339 or email to emily.nafzger@drivesurvive.co.uk.

Drive & Survive can deliver its own version of SAFED fuel economy training anywhere in the UK. For further information on this and other courses, such the half or full day 'Introduction to Van Training' course, please contact Customer Services on 0870 1218339.
